Rosalie Dahlen

Rosalie Myrtle Dahlen, age 106 of Wautoma, went home to the Lord on Sunday, November 1, 2020 at Heartland House, Wautoma peacefully with her family by her side. She was born in Wautoma on November 26, 1913 to Herman and Lila (Potter) Thompson. After high School she attended Wautoma Normal School. She married Alton F. Dahlen on November 25, 1939 at Hope Lutheran Church. Rosalie worked as a Nurse at Wild Rose Hospital from 1952 to 1979.

Rosalie was a faithful member of Hope Lutheran Church, Wautoma. She hardly ever missed a Sunday worship service.  She gave of herself to the ministry of Hope and one of her favorite projects was missions.  She diligently sewed mission quilts and cloth diapers for layettes on her treadle sewing machine.  Even when she moved to Heartland House she moved her sewing machine and would sew quilts and diapers. During the Country Fair she would be demonstrating the art of making Lefse, standing all day and hardly ever taking a break. Many attending the Country Fair would have their photo taken with Rosalie as they could not believe at her age she was making Lefse.  She was proud of her heritage and loved the antique sifter she used for her flour that was her Mom’s. She would supply handmade items for Fair she had made during the year and was always a joy to work with.  She was a member of the quilt guild.   Before moving to Heartland House every week she would fold bulletins and help with mailings.  She loved her family, was a loyal friend, and a member of Hope who always gave of herself and never complained.  Rosalie did not come off with flair; she came off with kindness, love, caring and a deep faith in God. Heaven has gained a beautiful angel.

Rosalie enjoyed making special quilts for each of her family members, but her greatest joy was having friends and family over for a meal or stopping by for coffee and her very special donuts.

Rosalie is survived by her daughter: Sandra Krings; daughters-in-law: Arlene Dahlen, Karen Ruter; seven grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 11 great great grandchildren; ; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Alton Dahlen; son, Glenn; granddaughter: Caryn Carpenter Slovinski; grandson: Kevyn Carpenter; sister: Lillian Stenerson and brother: Stanley Thompson.

The family will greet relatives and friends on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at Hope Lutheran Church from 10AM to 11AM. Private family funeral services will be held following visitation. Leikness Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. www.wautomafuneralhome.com
