Randy Wilcox

August 3, 1953 — July 1, 2021

On a beautiful July morning our loving Lord restored our brother’s sight and healed all his earthy afflictions. After nearly 60 years of darkness our brother, Randy Wilcox, age 67, awoke to the beauty of Heaven to be reunited with his parents in paradise.

Randy entered this world on a stormy August 3, 1953 morning at Berlin Hospital to Gordon C. and Joyce J. (Pick) Wilcox. It was with these loving parents that Rand was introduced and came to love our Savior. Throughout his life he was given many physical challenges. He never once complained or questioned God’s plan for him.

God gave him many gifts.  He gave him a love for music and the ability to play guitar and the harmonica along with other instruments.  Rand knew the year and lyrics to every Bob Dylan song ever written.

Randy found camaraderie and companionship at Lion’s Camp in Rosholt Wisconsin.  It was there that he met other people that had similar challenges that he could relate to. It was truly his favorite place on earth.

Randy was a 1972 graduate of Wautoma High School and later received a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work at UW-Oshkosh. He enjoyed selling CD’s at the flea market in Princeton and later opened Whirlwind Music and Country Roads Music in Wautoma. He was a lifetime member of Peace Lutheran Church in Wautoma.

He is survived by one brother, Daniel (Beverly) Wilcox, Crystal Falls, MI; one sister, Dawn (Kurt Johnson) Wilcox-Johnson, Oshkosh.  He is also survived by nephews: Dr. Cameron (Heather Addison) Wilcox and family; Matthew (Michelle) Wilcox and family; and Adam (Melissa) Wilcox and family and niece Jade (Joe Weber) Wilcox Johnson. He is further survived by his aunt Ruth Wilcox, cousins, other relatives, and friends. His parents preceded him in death.

Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church in Wautoma with Rev. Steven Tews officiating. Interment will be at Maple Grove Cemetery, town of Dakota.

Visitation will be held at the Church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. If desired, memorials may be directed to Peace Lutheran Church, 335 W. Prairie St. Wautoma, WI 54982 or Wisconsin Lions Camp, 3834 County Road A, Rosholt, WI 54473.

We would like to thank the staff at Omro Care Center for their compassionate and loving care that they gave Randy the last several years. The staff and residents at Omro Care became Randy’s second family and he so valued each relationship he made.

Having Randy as our brother and uncle was a gift from God.  He taught us compassion, patience, empathy and what it means to unconditionally love one another.  We will be forever grateful to have had him in our lives.  We will always remember his Lion’s Camp jokes, his laugh and his crooked smile.  We look forward to meeting him at the gates of heaven sighted and whole.
