Gladys Jane (Palm) Booth, age 97, of Wautoma, passed away Sunday morning, October 25, 2020 surrounded by her family.
She was born April 3rd, 1923 in Mt. Morris, the daughter of the late Arthur and Betsey (Hanson) Palm. Gladys grew up on the family farm in Mt. Morris.
Gladys was employed at Speed Queen in Wautoma for some time. Here she met the love of her life, Merritt Booth. They were married December 4th, 1948. Together they raised one daughter, Judy. Merritt preceded Gladys in death on November 1st, 2012 and Judy on August 8th, 2000.
Family was important to Gladys from an early age and throughout her life. She would often tell stories of her Grandmother coming to stay with her family to make clothes for the kids for the upcoming school year. She also grew up with cousins just a short walk down the road. She enjoyed time spent with her nieces and nephews on what was known as “Game Day”. This was a day full of food and laughter at the kitchen table along with a serious game of canasta or dominos. She also enjoyed canning, sewing and wallpapering.
Gladys is survived by her grandchildren, Jane (George) Reepsdorf and Todd (Colleen) Pomplun; great grandchildren, Nikki Reepsdorf, Matt Reepsdorf, Bryant Pomplun, Jake Pomplun, Ross Pomplun; great-great grandchildren, Arie and Kasjen Pomplun. Gladys is further survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
In addition to her parents, husband and daughter, Gladys is preceded in death by her son-in-law, Carl Pomplun; siblings, Vernon (Esther) Palm, Florence (Fran) Perry, Esther (John) Miller, Bernita (Kerm) Johnson and Russell Palm.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, October 31, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace United Methodist Church in Wautoma, with Pastor Stephanie Taylor officiating. Inurnment will be at Maple Grove Cemetery, town of Dakota. Visitation will be held at the Church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Lewis Palm, James Palm, Robert Miller, George Perry, Raymond Johnson and Francis Perry.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, face masks will be required and social distancing observed.
