Clarence Kovalski

April 21, 1930 — August 30, 2019

Clarence Donald Kovalski, age 89, of Wautoma, passed away Friday evening, August 30, 2019 at the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King.

He was born April 21, 1930 in the Township of Carson, Portage County, the son of John J. and Sally Mae (Flatoff) Kovalski. He married the former Agnes Therese Ostrowski on Decmber 27, 1951 in Stevens Point. She preceded him in death on March 9, 2017.

Clarence served his country in the United States Air Force  working as an aircraft mechanic stationed in San Antonio, Texas. He and his wife resided in Milwaukee and later in Cudahy before moving to Wautoma. He was employed at Allen-Bradley Co. for many years until his retirement in 1989. Later, he worked for the Wautoma Area School District as a Bus Driver for 20 years until he retired. Clarence and his wife enjoyed fishing at their lake home on Lake Emily in Fox Lake. He was an active member and past commander of Wolman-Minskey American Legion Post 317 of Wautoma. He proudly served as caretaker of Calvary Cemetery in Wautoma for many years. Clarence enjoyed golf, bowling and softball.

He is survived by one son, Dale D. Kovalski (Evelyn Guzman), Cudahy; one daughter, Diane M. (Mark) Iwanski, Milwaukee; one grandson, Daniel J. Iwanski, West Allis; his sister, Lorraine (Rhody) Bushman, Appleton; two brothers, Chester  Kovalski, Menasha, Irvin Kovalski, Plover. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Debra A. Kovalski on November 26, 2018; and by his parents.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wautoma with Rev. David F. Greskowiak officiating. Interment with full military honors will be at Calvary Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Saturday at the Church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established for the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, WI and Wolman-Minskey American Legion Post 317, Wautoma.

The family wishes to thank the compassionate staff of Wisconsin Veterans Home-Ainsworth Hall and ThedaCare at Home Hospice for their loving care and support.
