Thomas Joseph Kolter, lovingly known as Tom, completed his life's journey on May 12, 2026, at the age of 83.
Tom was born on February 22, 1943, in Milwaukee. He was a devoted and loving husband to Virginia "Ginney" (Waddington) Kolter. Just two days after his passing, they would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary, having been married on May 14, 1966. Together they have built a life rooted in love, commitment, and family.
Tom was a dedicated father to Shelley Calder (Mark) and Dan Kolter (Tauna), and a proud Papa to his two cherished grandchildren, Dylan Kolter (Julianna) and Caitlyn "Caitie" Kolter. Being Papa brought Tom tremendous joy, and he took great pride in the people they had become.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alexander and Genevieve Kolter, and by his in-laws, Albert "Bob" and Ethel Waddington.
Tom is also survived by his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Rick Waddington (Loretta); sister-in-law Dana Waddington, wife of the late Bob Waddington; and nephews Michael Waddington, Scot Waddington (Renee), and Christopher Waddington.
Tom was born and raised in Milwaukee and worked for Falk Corporation, where he dedicated 34 years before retiring.
Tom had a passion for woodworking and especially enjoyed creating custom projects for family and friends. He also loved making wine, playing cards, bowling, and admiring Corvettes and classic cars. He found peace and happiness outdoors, particularly while fishing and spending time in nature.
Tom will be remembered for his kind heart, steady presence, and willingness to share his time, talents, and love with those around him. His family and friends will deeply miss him and will forever treasure the memories they made together.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate caregivers at ThedaCare at Home Hospice for the comfort and support they provided.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, May 24, 2026 from 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm at the Dakota Town Hall, N1470 State Road 22, Wautoma, WI 54982.
