Theodore Hertel

Theodore "Ted" Leo Hertel, age 88 died early Friday morning, May 20, 2016 at his home. He was born on February 16, 1928 in Jamestown, ND to John and Esther (Stanzel) Hertel. After high school, Ted enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was later honorably discharged. On September 17, 1949 he married Shirley Eleanor Siepe in Milwaukee at Ebenzer Lutheran Church. Ted worked as a Steamfitter for the Wisconsin Pipe Trades Local #601 for 50 years and then retired to the Pine River area. He was a scout leader with the Berlin Boy Scouts and a member of the Poy Sippi Lions Club.

Ted is survived his sons: Jeffrey Hertel, Pine River, John Hertel, Wind Lake; two grandchildren: Vina Marie Hertel, Milwaukee, Johnny Hertel, Wind Lake; six great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife: Shirley Hertel on January 5, 2013.

Memorial services will be held at 11AM on Friday, May 24, 2016 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Saxeville with military honors to follow. Burial will take place in Poy Sippi Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends at church on Friday from 10AM until the time of services at 11AM.
