Robert King

November 10, 1918 — May 2, 2011

Robert R. King, age 92, of Coloma, passed away Monday, May 2, 2011 at Wild Rose Hospital.

He was born November 10, 1918 in the Township of Richford, the son of Fred R. and Mabel (Bandt) King. He married Elaine Otto on January 12, 1946 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Coloma.

Robert proudly served his country in the United States Army Signal Corps from 1942 until 1945. For 33 years he and his wife owned and operated Royal Café in Coloma. Robert was an active member in his community where he served on the Coloma Village Board and a Waushara County Supervisor. He was also active in the Hancock-Coloma American Legion, the Friends of Coloma Library, the Coloma Area Historical Society and held several offices at the Calvary United Methodist Church, where he was a faithful member.

Robert also had a love for music. He enjoyed singing and playing the mandolin. He also took great pride in his garden and enjoyed spending time with his family. He will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved him.

Robert is survived by his wife of 65 years, Elaine King, Coloma; his children, Kenneth (Joan) King, Sheboygan; Ronald (Barbara) King, Eau Claire and Donna (Jerry) Schultz, House Springs, MO; eight grandchildren, Chad King, Minneapolis, MN; Todd (Amy) King, Sheboygan Falls; Jon (Dena) Cvetan, Sheboygan; Traci (Daniel) Woldengen, Liberty, MO; Timothy (Meghan) Schultz, St. Louis, MO; Andrew (Abigail) King, Lafayette, IN; Ronald King II, St. Paul, MN and Arienne King, Roseville, MN; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Daniel (Iona Jean) King, Coloma; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Harvey, Arthur and Martin.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2011 at 11:00am in Prince of Peace Lutheran Church with Rev. Bill Dow officiating. He will be laid to rest with full military honors in Hillside Cemetery, Coloma.

Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at the Church and again on Thursday from 9:30am until the time of services at the Church.
