Richard "Dick" Meyer

May 4, 1944 — July 17, 2018

Richard (Dick) A. Meyer, age 74, of Coloma, Wisconsin, formerly of Brown Deer, Wisconsin passed away on Tuesday, July 17, in the arms of his loving wife.  The middle son of Albert and Helen (nee Reifschneider), Dick was born on May 4, 1944, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Dick started his life working as a manger at a local grocery store in Brown Deer before deciding to relocate and establish his family on Pleasant Lake.  Shortly after moving up to the lake, he started the Dick Meyer Company, Inc.  and Whispering Pines Tree Farm.

He married his wife of 52 years, Nancy A. Meyer (nee Schmitt), on October 23, 1965.  They spent their life together raising their four children, grandchildren and enjoying the lake, numerous shopping trips and adventures around the world together.

Dick always gave himself to others.  Whether it was volunteering for the Lions Club, cooking his famous chicken at the Coloma Chicken Chew, building something at his beloved Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, or making sure he attended an event for one of his children or grandchildren, he was there.   He knew every restaurant no matter where he was without using a map or navigation.  He was such an avid Packer and Badger fan that you couldn’t get a word in the house on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon.  Dick loved hunting, fishing, his yearly Christmas tree farm socialization, his Corvette, his black and chocolate labs, farm shows, EAA, four wheeling, snowmobiling and all water sports.  He had a deep passion and love for his family, children, grandchildren and service to others.  He leaves behind a legacy of life lessons to all on strength, love, communication, commitment and selfless service.

He is survived by his devoted wife Nancy of Coloma, WI, his son David (Mona) of Coloma, WI, his daughter Denise (Andy) Holin of Sun Prairie, WI, his daughter Deborah (Erik) Mickelson of Brookfield, WI, his son Derek (Corie) of Coloma, WI, his grandchildren Biannca (Eric), Evan, Jared, Carson, Mason, Lyndi, Sophia, Scarlett and Owen, his brother Bruce of Kalispell, Montana, his faithful friend and companion Josie(chocolate lab) and many nephews, cousins and wonderful friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father, brother Joel, mother-in-law and father-in-law.
