Richard Shear

August 11, 1937 — May 21, 2018

Richard A. Shear, age 80, longtime Wautoma businessman, passed away Monday morning, May 21, 2018 at Aurora Medical Center, Oshkosh.

He was born August 11, 1937, the son of Jack and Clara (Haefner) Shear Sr. He married Joyce P. (Wolfe) Haumschild on Sept. 28, 1979 in Wautoma.

Richard founded Fire & Safety Equipment of Wautoma in 1958 and was still active in the family business at the time of his death. He also founded Fire & Safety Equipment of Platteville in 1976. He was a longtime faithful member of the Wautoma Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses and was instrumental in establishing the Wautoma Congregation in 1958. Dick was a loving, kind and patient husband and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed boating, watching the Green Bay Packers, Wisconsin Badgers, fishing, keeping a perfect manicured lawn and talking to others about God. Dick was very professional, ambitious and respected no matter what the task.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Shear, Wautoma; two children, Mark (Pam) Haumschild and Nancy (Scott) Klabunde, all of Wautoma; seven grandchildren, Derek (Misty) Haumschild, Carissa (Jay) Ryan, Cassi (Ryan) Witt, Madison Haumschild, Kayla Klabunde, Luke Klabunde, Mavric Klabunde; five great grandchildren, Alaska, Alyvia, Josiah, Layla, and Nolyn; one brother, Jack (Pearl) Shear, Baraboo. He is further survived by other relatives and friends.
