Marvin R. Wagner Sr.

Wautoma

Marvin Richard Wagner Sr., age 98, of Wautoma, passed away Monday morning, May 25, 2026 at Theda Care Medical Center in Wild Rose.

He was born September 13, 1927 in the Township of Dakota, the son of Albert and Martha (Moldenhauer) Wagner. He married Carol Sturm and had five children. He married the former Ingrid M. (Andersson) Schaafsma at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waupaca. She preceded him in death on December 23, 2011.

Marvin grew up on the family homestead farm in the Township of Dakota. He founded Wagner Trucking and hauled cattle, and later pickles to Green Bay. He was a truck driver for Weiland Trucking of Wautoma and worked at the Waushara County Highway Department until his retirement. He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Wautoma.

He is survived by four children: James Wagner, Michigan, Vern Wagner, Wautoma, Kathy (Cliff) Finn, Milwaukee and Dan (Celia) Wagner, Tennessee; daughter-in-law, Carol Wagner, Wautoma; 14 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; other relatives and many dear friends.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Marvin Wagner Jr.; one brother, William Wagner; one sister, Irene Daye.

Dad had a passion for trout fishing, hunting rabbits, pheasants and deer. He also loved his dogs and his favorite was Droopy a St. Bernard from his younger years and had many stories. Dad would never turn down the opportunity to go out to eat. His favorite food especially as he grew older was “eggy bacca” He will be remembered for his friendly smile and willingness to have a good visit. He enjoyed and loved his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2026 at Hope Lutheran Church in Wautoma from 9:30 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, Township of Crystal Lake, Marquette County. 

The family wishes to thank the staff of Heartland House in Wautoma, Theda Care Medical Center-Wild Rose and Theda Care at Home Hospice for the compassionate care given to Marv.
