Margaret Goodwin

Margaret Lorraine Goodwin, age 83 of Redgranite passed away on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at Preston Place in Redgranite. She was born on January 4, 1937 in Ashland to Francis and Helen (Peterson) Greene. Margaret graduated from Ashland High School, Class of 1955 and then attended Ashland Teachers College, graduating with the Class of 1957. She then married Frank Chmielak in 1962. Margaret then went to UW Oshkosh and received her Bachelor’s Degree in 1969. Frank passed away in 1972. On June 26, 1978 she married Merlin Goodwin in Poy Sippi. Margaret taught at Baldwin School, Pine River School and then Pleasant View Elementary from 1964 until her retirement in 2001. She spent her retirement gardening, reading, painting in her “little house” and volunteering at First Lutheran Church, Poy Sippi.

Margaret is survived by her husband; Merlin Goodwin; daughter: Charlotte “Lotty” Chmielak; brothers: John Greene, Alvin Greene, Richard Greene; sisters: Dorothy Anderson, Irene Piff; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Frank Chmielak; sisters: Helen Gronholm, Marie Binder; brothers: Harold Greene and Frank Greene.

Private funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at 11AM at First Lutheran Church, Poy Sippi. The funeral service will be live streamed through the church Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/FirstLuthPoySippi. The family will greet relatives and friends at church on Wednesday from 10AM to 11AM.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Margaret's name to the Pine River Library.
