LaVeila Schwersenska

December 9, 1926 — July 21, 2015

LaVeila "Trixie" Schwersenska, age 88, of Coloma, passed away Tuesday morning, July 21, 2015 at Heartland House in Wautoma under the care of Agnesian Hospice.

She was born December 9, 1926 in the Town of Springfield, Marquette County, the daughter of Earl and Clara (Otto) Werner. She married Howard A. Schwersenska on May 18, 1946 in Marquette County. He preceded her in death on August 5, 2013.

LaVeila was a graduate of Westfield High School and Waushara County Normal School. She taught at several rural schools including Woodville School where she was her daughter's first grade teacher. She served as organist at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Crystal Lake for a number of years. LaVeila was employed as teller at the Peoples Bank (now National Exchange Bank) of Coloma for 28 years until her retirement in 1984. She was a faithful member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Coloma and WELCA, serving as treasurer.

Survivors include one daughter, Janice "Jan" (Kerry) McCarron, Plainfield; two sisters-in-law, Susan "Sue" (Douglas) France, Portage and Neoma Schwersenska, Westfield. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one brother, Earl Werner; and by two brothers-in-law, Marlin (Ruth) Schwersenska and Milferd (Anna) Schwersenska.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Coloma with Pastor Alyson Janke officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Saturday at the Church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services.

The family wishes to express sincere appreciation to the staff of Heartland House and Agnesian Hospice. Special thanks to Chuck & Diana Smoker, Two Rivers along with Sue France of Portage for sending weekly cards and letters to LaVeila since residing at Heartland House.
