Joseph Cassidy

March 20, 1938 — December 22, 2017

Joseph Raymond Cassidy, of Wautoma, died peacefully Friday evening Dec. 22, 2017, surrounded by his wife and family. His memory will be kept alive by his loving wife of 57 years, Karen (nee Fosbinder) and their five sons: Timothy (Laura) of Brookfield, Wisconsin, Terrence (Kimberly) of Wautoma, Wisconsin, Thomas (deceased), Joseph of Jackson, Wisconsin, and James (Tanya) of Sussex, Wisconsin. Proud “Gramps” of Meghan, Patrick, and Erin Cassidy, Matthew and Rachel Cassidy, Kieran, Colleen, and Brennan Cassidy, and Jack, Sam, and Katie Cassidy. He is further survived by three siblings, James (Dianne) Cassidy of San Jose, CA, Patrick (Sharon) Cassidy of San Jose, CA, and Maureen (Dennis) Brekke of Waukesha, WI.

Joe was born on the family farm in Lyndon Station, Wisconsin on March 20th, 1938, the fourth child of the late Edward and Mae Cassidy. He graduated from Madonna High School, Mauston, Wisconsin in 1956. He married Karen in August, 1960. He was a Wauwatosa firefighter for 25 years and ran a successful masonry and concrete business with his sons.

Joe loved to hunt, fish, play golf and enjoyed spending time at the family farm in Lyndon Station. He instilled his strong faith to his family and was an active member of St. Pius X Parish in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, and later at St. James in Neshkoro, Wisconsin. Joe cherished time with Karen, his sons, and his grandchildren at their lake home on Silver Lake in Wautoma, Wisconsin. He enjoyed a good game of euchre with family and friends and was never shy about “passing heavy”. He exuded a strong “work hard, play hard” attitude to all who knew him and was always there to offer a lending hand.

Visitation will be held Friday, Dec. 29, 2017 at St. James Catholic Church, 315 N. Main St., Neshkoro, Wisconsin from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Reception immediately following.
