John Paul Kopach, age 80, of Coloma, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on Thursday, May 22, 2025.
He was born June 13, 1944 in Marshfield, the son of Paul F. and Muriel G. (Burr) Kopach Jr. He married Judith Ann “Judy” Boesler on November 5, 1966 in Wautoma.
John was a 1962 graduate of Westfield High School. He served his country in the United States Air Force from 1962 until he was honorably discharged in 1966.
He was employed as a machine operator at Nekoosa Port Edwards Paper Company for many years until his retirement. John was a loving family man, lovingly known, as “daddy” and “Papa John.” John was an avid softball player and loved teaching his grandchildren to golf. He was an exceptional gardener, known amongst the family for his tomatoes, and favorite tomato sandwiches. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Judith “Judy” Kopach, Coloma; three daughter: Terri (Rich) Jackson, Sue Kopach (Ed Hintz) and Karen (Kenneth) Lewko, all of Coloma; four grandchildren: Sami (Mike) Decorah, Trevor Jackson (Cristina), Zackery Hintz and John Lewko; two great grandchildren: Averie and Peyton; two sisters: Margaret (Ron) Nigbor and Kate (Tom) Congdon, both of Coloma; three brothers: Joe (Lana) Kopach, Westfield, Paul (Nancy) Kopach, Coloma, David (Sue) Kopach, Coloma; his brother-in-law, Keith Kemnetz, Hancock. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
John is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Muriel Kopach, parents-in law, Robert and Geraldine Boesler, brother-in-law, Kurt Boesler, one grandson, Thomas Lewko; and by his sister, Diane Kemnetz.
Private family services will be held.
