Joan Netzler

July 19, 1930 — September 14, 2016

Joan D. Netzler, age 86, of Wautoma, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 14, 2016. Joan had been recovering at Juliette Manor in Berlin, Wisconsin, after suffering from a fall, a broken hip, and partial hip replacement surgery.

She was born on July 19, 1930, in Draper, Wisconsin, Sawyer County, to Joseph and Cora (Hubbell) Paulick. She was the second of seven children and liked to claim bragging rights to leading the way for her twin sister, Jean.

She married Leonard J. Netzler on August 23, 1952 in Cudahy, Wisconsin. Their 32 years in the tavern business included establishments in Cudahy, Iola, and Merrill, Wisconsin, but some of the best years of their lives were from 1960 until 1978 when they owned and operated the "World Famous Camp Waushara" in Wautoma, Wisconsin. After retirement in 1978, they spent the winter seasons at their home in Florida. They enjoyed traveling by motor home and visited most of the states in the continental United States.

After Lenny's death in 2004, Joan continued to live in their home, taking on all of the tasks needed to maintain a beautiful home, yard and garden. She loved to loudly cheer on the Packers, she loved to beat her children and grandchildren in cards, and she loved to win multiple times at her weekly outings to meat night at Billy B's.

Joan is survived by her children, Joseph (Jane) Netzler, Oak Creek, Sandra (Peter) Oemichen, Wautoma, and Donald (partner Jane Heding) Netzler, Wautoma; her stepdaughter, Marsha Gawlak, Cudahy; her grandchildren, Brad Netzler, Hillary Kraemer, Ann Oemichen, Jeffrey Oemichen, Kristina Netzler, Whitney Netzler, and Tanner Netzler; her step grandchildren, Mitchell, Tom, and Craig Gawlak; her great-grandchildren, Brennan and Ivy, and her step great-grandchildren, Abby, Zakkory, and Devin. Joan is also survived by her siblings, Ruth (Pat) Crawford, Shawano, Jean Madson, Caledonia, Clifford (Lucille) Paulick, Milwaukee, DuWayne (Barb) Paulick, Rochester, New York, Dorothy (Mark) Moore, Waterford, and Helen (Norman) Ruby, Hayward. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Netzler, her step son-in-law Leonard Gawlak, and special family friend, William Burmeister.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, September 20, 2016, at 11:30 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church in Neshkoro with the Reverend Dale Grubba officiating. Burial will be at the parish cemetery. She will be laid next to rest next to her beloved husband, Lenny.

Visitation will be held at the Church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.

Joan will be greatly missed by her family and friends, but we are all privileged by our memories of her.
