Janet M. “Jan” Putskey, age 93, of Wautoma passed away Thursday morning, January 15, 2026 at Heartland House in Wautoma.
She was born August 4, 1932 in Stevens Point, the daughter of August and Elizabeth (Zei) Matke. Janet was employed as a cook at the former City Rec Lanes, Wautoma Care Center and Wild Rose Manor for many years until her retirement. She was a longtime faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and she prayed the rosary daily. Janet will be remembered for many things, especially her homemade potato salad.
She is survived by four children: Ann (Dan) Semrow, Cottage Grove, Rick Putskey, Wautoma, Mark (Jane) Putskey, Wautoma, Jeff (Lori) Putskey, Richford; nine grandchildren: Isaac (Julie) Semrow, Josh Semrow, Jake (Dani) Semrow, Brent (Mel) Putskey, Colin Putskey, Phillip (Christina) Putskey, Nicholas (Katelynn) Putskey, Nathan Putskey, Kyle (Henley) Putskey; three great grandchildren: Kylie, Beckett and Durham and another great granddaughter due soon. Her former daughter-in-law, Holly Putskey, Wautoma.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, Richard Putskey; one sister, Elizabeth Dagneau and brother-in-law, Merv Dagneau; one brother, James Matke.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 19, 2026 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Walter Stumpf officiating. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Wautoma. There will be no visitation prior to the service.
The family would like to thank the staff at Heartland House for the care they provided to our mother, and we would also like to thank Julie Mesman who gave her friendship and personal assistance.
