James Hetzel

August 7, 1958 — December 13, 2009

James (Jim) R. Hetzel, age 51, of Hancock, passed away following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer on Sunday afternoon, December 13, 2009, after watching his favorite team, the Packers beat the Bears. He was born in Wild Rose, the son of Robert and Donna (Walters) Hetzel. He married Wendy Johnson on November 4, 1978.
Jim was a graduate of Tri-County High School. Working in the past for Basic American Foods and most recently as a salesman for TerraMarc of Wisconsin. He had a great passion for his family, his community, as well as sports, including: the Green Bay Packers, softball, golf, and bowling. A few things he looked forward to every year were the National and State Bowling Tournaments as well as coaching his favorite girls in softball, and golf league. He was also a volunteer for the Hancock Fire Department and one of the founders of the Hancock Ballpark Committee.
He is survived by his wife, Wendy Hetzel, Hancock; two daughters, Jamie (Dustin) Helmrick, Almond, Monica (Luke) Pfeifer, Brunswick, MD; two brothers, Larry (Cassie) Hetzel, Wild Rose, Jerry (Cheryl) Hetzel, Almond; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Nickii (Les) Baughman, Chuck (Cindy) Johnson, Sue (Buster) Swonger, all from Hancock, and special friend, Johnny Moreno, Laredo, TX. Further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many special friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and in-laws.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in the Leikness and Stahl Funeral Home, Plainfield. Burial will be in the Hancock Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3:00-7:00 p.m. Friday evening and from 12:30 p.m. Saturday until the time of services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
