Irene A. Van Schaack

Irene Van Schaack, age 88, passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 14^th at Heartland House, Wautoma, Wisconsin surrounded by family.   She was born on August 3, 1935, in Brooklyn, New York to the late Joseph and Helen Pozarycki.  Irene met and married the love of her life, Harold “Teenie” Van Schaack in Athens, New York and raised their three children while being employed at the Catskill Country Club.  Later in life, Irene and her husband Teenie opened and operated the Athens Bagel Shop where they enjoyed socializing with their community and being surrounded by their family and friends.  

In addition to her parents, Irene was predeceased by her loving husband Harold “Teenie” Van Schaack; son William Van Schaack; her sister Jean Zielinski, sister Helcia Petaroi and brother Vincent Pozarycki.  She is survived by her daughter Sandra (James) Hackett; son Bruce Van Schaack (Robert Nelson); daughter-in-law Janet Van Schaack; granddaughter Deborah (Gregg) Kenny; grandsons James (Kim) Hackett; Willam (Amie) Van Schaack Jr; four great-grandchildren, brother Robert Pozarycki, sister Theresa Dubin and many nieces and nephews. Irene’s warm smile, laughter and kind heart will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A private funeral service will be held in her honor at a later date.
