Gregory Lee Brunswick

December 10, 1963 — January 17, 2026

Redgranite

Gregory Lee Brunswick was born on December 10, 1963, in Jackson, Michigan, to Carol (Thieman) and Gerald Brunswick. Greg chose to leave this life on January 16, 2026, at his home in Redgranite, Wisconsin.

The fourth of eight children, Greg grew up surrounded by family. In 1970, the Brunswick family moved to Somonauk, Illinois, where Greg attended Somonauk schools and graduated from Somonauk High School in 1982. During his school years, he enjoyed staying active, participating in track, basketball, and soccer.

Greg served his country through the National Guard beginning in 1983. He later followed his passion for cooking, earning his culinary degree from Elgin Community College. His early career included working at the Village Courtyard in Somonauk and Eric’s in Sandwich.

Greg married Carolyn Cicci on Sweetest Day, October 18, 1986. Together they welcomed their daughter, Amanda Christine, in April 1988. They later divorced.

In 1993, Greg moved to Northern Wisconsin after accepting a chef position at the White Tail Inn in St. Germain. He made his home in the Northwoods, living in Manitowish Waters and later near Plum Lake, a place he deeply loved. Greg valued a simple life filled with cooking, fishing, volunteering with the local fire department, and spending time outdoors.

Greg shared many happy years with his loyal companion, Mikey the Wonder Dog, who preceded him in death.

Greg is survived by his daughter, Mandi; his grandsons, Parker and Noah; and his siblings: Chris (Bob, deceased) Bailey; Cindy (Jim) Wilkinson; JP (Terri) Brunswick; Cam (Ron Hansen) O’Brien; Cathy Brunswick; Gary (Karie) Brunswick; and Cheri (Rick) Schwartz. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Carol (Thieman) Brunswick; his former wife, Carolyn (Cicci) Brunswick; his brothers-in-law, Robert Bailey and Howard Wilkinson; and several relatives and loved ones.

A celebration of Greg’s life will be held privately at a later date.

I’d like the memory of me to be a happy one.

I’d like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done .

I’d like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways,

Of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days.

 I’d like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun;

Of happy memories that I leave

When life is done.
