Gilbert (Gabby) Glen Nelson, 93 years young, passed away in the wee hours of early morning on June 5th 2025. Our Father and Grandfather’s soul made his exit in the material world at Randolph Health Services in Randolph, WI. It is there where He entered the, Golden Gates of Heaven
Joining his wife Joan (Joanie), and infant son.
Gib was also proceeded in death by, His Parents Frank Douglas and Emma Catherine (Heyer) Nelson and 13 siblings (8 brothers and 5 sisters) to include: Vernon William Henry Nelson, Vera Stella Elizabeth Erdman, Howard Benjamen Nelson, Viola Dorothy Smith, Mildred Gertrude Schultz, Wilbert Frank Nelson, Robert Joseph Nelson, Earl LeRoy Nelson, Myrtle Jean McDonald, Jerald Wesley Nelson, Richard Raymond, Merry Ann Schindel, and Edward Ronald Nelson, and also Al Putman Brother in law of Humbird, WI. Other family and friends.
He was the loving father of Ruthie and her husband Robert (Bob) Gilbert, Wild Rose, WI, Grandfather of Kari Hoefs (Tom) Dinegan of Windsor, WI, and Jennifer Gilbert of Beaver Dam, WI. He is also survived by Donna Nelson (ister-in-law) Beaver Dam, WI, Joan’s sister Linda Putman of Humbird, WI, and Joan’s brother Andrew (Janet) Lund of Columbia. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Gib was a giving man who worked tirelessly to ensure that his family had everything they needed. He faced every challenge in life with admirable strength and courage.
He was a great source for the History of Randolph, Retired from Busse Brothers of Randolph WI, working there for over forty years. When he was younger, he liked to go on Trips with Mom and their Harley Motorcycle.
Some of Gib’s other favorite past times were camping. There was always a good pot of camper’s stew in the black pot cooking over the campfire or fresh popcorn he popped on the stovetop. At family reunions he would enjoy playing poker with his brothers and other family members. Having coffee with the (guys) in town was an event he always treasured. Traveling to Flea Markets in Wisconsin and Florida coming home with great finds he was sure we all needed. Gib was a volunteer fireman for the Randolph Fire Department and a Senior Volunteer of the Zepher Hills Fire Dept when he and Joan stayed at their winter home in Florida." He followed the Milwaukee Brewers, the Green Bay Packers, and Randolph High School Sports.
To Randolph Health Services Staff and to Hospice nurses Patty, Rita and Social Worker Brenda words fall short of expressing the depth of our appreciation for your incredible care and support. You have become like family to us during this challenging chapter, offering unwavering compassion, guidance, and love. Your dedication to providing comfort and dignity is truly remarkable. Thank you for walking alongside us, holding our hands, and helping us find moments of peace and joy amidst the sorrow. We are forever grateful for all of you.
Dad, you are now at peace but you will live on forever in our hearts. We love you so much. Rest in a very deserved peace.
A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday Aug 7, 2025 3:00 pm-6:30pm for Gib and Joan together. It will be held at The Randolph Village Hall, 248 West Stroud Street, Randolph, WI 53956. Should you have any questions please call Kari at 920-344-6065. The hall is handicap accessible.
