Emmett Raymond Gustin, 77, born April 15th, 1940, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on New Year’s Day 2018 while doing what he loved (tending to cattle) and in the place that he loved (on his family farm in his John Deere Tractor).  He was an avid jokester.  He often joked about being born on Tax Day; we are certain he is now looking down on us joking about leaving this world on another monumental day, New Year’s Day.  He was born at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac, WI and “lived his whole life” on the family farm in the township of Deerfield, Wisconsin.  Emmett was a dairy farmer for most of his life with prized Red and White Holsteins.  He retired from dairy farming to row crop for himself and Seneca Foods.  His boys were his world. His son Dean and Dean’s wife, Pamela (who he called “My Girl”), moved back to the state to live and work on the family farm.  Emmett was excited and happy to continue to teach them “everything he knew”.  He was very proud of his oldest son, Greg, the successful owner of Granite Auto and father to Emmett’s beloved grandchildren, Paige and Payton.  Emmett loved to get a rise out of people and make them laugh.  He also had a very big heart.  He would do anything for those he cared about.  Emmett will be missed by many, but we will always hear his “words of wisdom” in our hearts

Emmett is survived by his two sons, Greg Gustin (children, Paige and Payton) and Dean (wife, Pamela Gustin); his longtime significant other, Debra West; his brother, Raymond Gustin; and many other family members and friends that will always remember his larger than life personality.

Emmett’s family and friends will be having a celebration of his life on Saturday, January 13th, 2018 in the shop on the farm.
