Emil Henry Bohn, age 90, of Neshkoro, went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, WI.

He was born May 23, 1935 in the Township of Deerfield, Waushara County, WI the son of Edward R. and Metta E. (Starks) Bohn. He married Janet G. Reetz on August 30, 1959 at Zion Lutheran Church in Neshkoro.

Emil graduated from Berlin High School in 1952. He joined the United States Navy in 1953. He served many days at sea aboard the aircraft carriers USS Midway, Yorktown, Mindoro and Curtis. He assisted in the evacuation of Chaing Kai-Shek’s forces from mainland China by patrolling the Quemoy and Matsu islands. He was inducted into the “Sacred Order of the Golden Dragon” and a citizen in the “Realm of Neptunus Rex.” Honorably discharged from the Navy in 1956.

Emil attended UW-Oshkosh, University of Northern Iowa, Butler and Marquette receiving degrees in Physics, Chemistry and teaching. He taught Physics and Chemistry at Oshkosh North High School, Marion College and Saint Cloud College. After his teaching career, he moved to Neshkoro; raised beef cattle and ran the family farm. He was president and elder of Zion Lutheran Church, Neshkoro for many years. He enjoyed fishing for Musky at his cabin in Three Lakes, WI and was an avid archery hunter who harvested many elk in Colorado.

Those Emil leaves behind to cherish his memory are his wife, Janet G. (Reetz) Bohn, Neshkoro; sons, Jeff and Jill (Armstrong) Bohn (DVM), Greg and Carla (Ross) Bohn (DVM), David and Margaret Bohn (Professional Engineer) and Lt Col Matthew Bohn, PhD; grandchildren, Luke, Lily (Zachary), Hannah, Josh (Whitney), Abigail, Chloe, Joey; his sister, Sandra Parks; brother-in-law, Carroll Schilf; sisters-in-law, Merle Bohn and Patricia Bohn; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Emil was preceded in death by his parents; Edward and Metta Bohn; brothers, Martin, Arnold; sisters, Bertha, Lois, Arlene and Joyce; brothers-in-law, Harry Wallace, Tom Erdman, John Nowacki, Ivan Reetz; sister-in-law, Betty Reetz.

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Neshkoro with Rev. Charles Schultz officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. A luncheon will follow the services in the church basement. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in Emil’s memory.
