Elaine Correll

October 19, 1926 — April 19, 2018

This is how I want everyone to remember me—when I was the happiest in my life. I lived in Wautoma with the love of my life, Jim Red Correll and watched my birds and other wildlife. We spent time with our friends and I baked lots of cookies for everyone. We took our motorhome to wherever the fishing was good, to visit out friends and families or to go to our grandkid’s sports activities.

Elaine was born October 19, 1926 to Ben and Bessie Williams in Berlin. They preceded her in death along with an infant sister, her brothers and their wives, Jay (Irene) Williams and Ben (Mary) Williams. She graduated from high school in Berlin, then moved to Wautoma after marrying Frank Forbes. He preceded her in death as did her husband, Jim Correll. She is survived by her daughters, Brenda (Darrell) Ainsworth of Washington, IL and Bonnie (Dale) Zirkle of New Mexico; her grandchildren, Dari (John) Zaiser and Dane (Audrey) Ainsworth and their children, her five great grandsons. Her step children Dick Correll and Joyce Odom also survive.

Granny Correll [as she liked to be called], moved from Wautoma to Illinois when it became too hard for her to live alone to be near her family to an apartment that provided meals and minimal but excellent care until she needed more help and moved to the Apostolic Christian Home in Eureka, also a great place. For as long as she was able, she was proudly involved in her grand and great grandkids activities and sports. She always said she was thankful [a word she often used] for all of her good friends and life she’d lived. Elaine lived to the ripe old age of 91 when she left this earthly existence peacefully in her sleep on April 19, 2018 at Apostolic Christian Home in Eureka, IL.

We will, of course, miss her smile, and joking nature but good memories will always be with us and we know she’ll be cheering on the boys from her ringside seat by Grandpa Red in heaven.

A memorial and celebration of her life will be held at Leikness Funeral Home in Wautoma followed by burial at Welsh Cemetery in Berlin at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 20, 2018.
