Cheryl Harasha

January 14, 1933 — January 17, 2015

Cheryl Agnes (May) Harasha, 82, died peacefully at Heartland House on January 17, 2015 after a courageous and extended battle with Parkinson's Disease. She was surrounded by her loving husband and family in her final days along with the support and care from hospice.



Cheryl was the oldest of three children born on January 14, 1933 to Frank and Carolyn May in Chicago, IL. She graduated from Chetek High School in 1950 and then attended the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Education. She taught advanced math in Wisconsin Rapids where she met her husband Fred. After marrying Fred, her best friend and the love of her life on May 31, 1958 the couple resided in Wautoma.



Cheryl taught advanced math at Wautoma High School as well as Library Science at Wautoma Community College. She became very involved in the community. She was a dedicated parishioner at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, an instrumental member of the Wautoma Women's Club, Homemakers (Home and Hearth), Ladies Sodality, 4H, and Wisconsin Right to Life. Cheryl and Fred raised four children and Cheryl dedicated her life to caring for her family and volunteering in the community. She loved to sew, crochet, knit and bake. She went on to become the Religious Education Coordinator at St. Joseph's for many years.



In later years, Cheryl enjoyed being active in community affairs, traveling with Fred, and spending time with her friends, children and grandchildren.



She is survived by her husband Fred; children Kathleen (John) Rawlsky, Olive Branch, MS, Mark (Terri) Harasha, Fond du Lac, WI and Ann Harrington, Hartland, WI. Grandchildren, Nathan Rawlsky, Botega Bay, CA, Paige Harasha, Park City, UT, Ali and Kara Harasha, Fond du Lac, WI and Jacob and Nicholas Harrington, Hartland, WI. She is further survived by her brothers Frank (Judy) May and Don (Patsy) May, and beloved "sister" and best friend Rella Kiesgen, in-laws, many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Cheryl was preceded in death by her son Craig and parents, Frank and Carolyn May.



Visitation for Cheryl will be at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Wautoma on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 from 9:30-11:00 a.m. followed by a funeral mass. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Calvary Cemetery.
