Arden Emil Pomplun 98, of Wautoma passed away on Sunday, June 15, 2025.
He was born April 28, 1927 in the Town of Deerfield, the son of Louie and Martha (Ploenske) Pomplun.
Arden married the love of his life, LaVerne Muehrer, on July 3, 1947, and enjoyed 66 years together. They had 4 children: Roger (Diane) Pomplun, Altoona, WI; Roy (Cindy) Pomplun, Wautoma, Wi; Holly (James) Polfuss, Neenah, Wi; Jim (Kathy) Pomplun, Oshkosh, Wi. Arden also had 9 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Arden was preceded in death by his wife LaVerne, and granddaughter Nicole Polfuss.
As a testament to a loving and lasting marriage, our father longed for companionship and was lucky to find his second love, Helen Reed, with whom he has shared his last years. We are eternally grateful that they found each other.
Arden was a man of many talents, he could do anything. He was Plant Manager of Speed Queen plant 2 in Wautoma for many years, and after the plant moved its operations to Ripon, Arden went to work for the City of Wautoma. He was the Street Crew Supervisor, fixing and maintaining the city streets and equipment, plowing snow, and testing and maintaining the city’s sewer system and anything else that the city required. He was also a volunteer fireman. He would drop everything to help people who needed it.
Arden was a faithful member of Hope Lutheran Church of Wautoma; a member of the Kiwanis Club; volunteered for Habitat for Humanity and the Department of Aging. He would fix and repair homes so that the residents could stay in their own homes. Arden and LaVerne organized and ran the Wautoma Orphan Grain Train.
Arden loved to travel the United States, and would always find the time to talk to anyone he encountered.
