Theodore “Ted” Joseph Lewko, age 51 of Coloma died unexpectedly on Monday, December 2, 2019 at Wm. S. Middleton VA Medical Center, Madison following his battle with Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS). Ted was born on May 4, 1968 in Racine. When Ted was 3, he moved to Coloma with his mother, Rosemarie. At age 12, Ted worked for Ely Acres until he was 18 and graduated from Westfield High School with the class of 1986. He then joined the U.S. Air Force serving from June 10, 1987 to July 27, 1991 as a Military Working Dog Handler and Security Police Officer. Ted then worked construction helping to build a power line from Marquette, MI to Quennesec, MI and returned back to Coloma a year later and worked for Neddo Construction remodeling and building in Wood Lake and Pleasant Lake area.

            In 1993 he joined the 440th Air Force Reserves out of Milwaukee and served for 22 ½ years retiring as MSgt on November 5, 2011. Ted worked for the Wautoma Police Department prior to serving as Chief of Police for the Village of Coloma from September 1996 to May 2015. Ted also served on the Coloma Volunteer Fire Department and has held all positions from firefighter to Chief. In 2012 Ted bought the former Coloma Oil property and opened L&L Hardware. Ted enjoyed collecting military vehicles and enjoyed working on them, Craigslist surfing, antiques, history and hunting and fishing with friends. Ted was very proud of his military, police and fire service. He will be sadly missed in the by his family and friends of the Coloma area.

            Ted is survived by his loving wife: Terra Lee Lewko; son: Wyatt Lewko; step son: Collin Francke; brothers: Ken (Karen) Lewko, Jim (Patty) Lewko; sister: Toni Zuehlke; nephews: Chris Zuehlke, Chad Zuehlke, John Lewko; aunts, uncles, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his mother: Rosemarie Lewko.

            Funeral services will be held at 11AM on Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Coloma followed with full military honors at Central Wisconsin Veterans Cemetery, King. The family will greet relatives and friends at church on Tuesday from 9AM until the time of services at 11AM.
