Hollis T. Bandt

November 10, 1930 ~ May 16, 2019 (age 88)

Hollis “Holly” Theodore Bandt, age 88, of Wautoma, died peacefully surrounded by the love of his family on Thursday, May 16, 2019 at his home.

He was born Nov. 10, 1930 in the Town of Richfield, Adams County, the son of Henry T. and Adella (Maynard) Bandt.

Hollis grew up in the Coloma area and attended Pilot Knob School thru the 8th grade and then worked on the family farm. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War from 1952 until 1954 and was awarded the Purple Heart.

He worked as an auto mechanic and then at Speed Queen in Wautoma for a number of years. Later, he moved to Madison where he was employed as a custodian at LaFollette High School and MATC. Hollis enjoyed watching the Brewers, bowling, hunting, camping, NASCAR, the Packers, horse racing and watching old western movies. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        

He is survived by his children, Bev (Craig) Rough, Ginny (Mike) Kraft, Daniel (Katie) Bandt, and Jean (Roger) Jenks; his grand-children, Bridget, Jena, Brittney, Brian, Josh, Addy, Henry, Emilia, and Cooper; his great grandchildren, Alliyah, Khiana, Isly, Kinsly, and Mason; one sister, Charlotte Warren; his sister-in-law, Sally Bandt; his former wife, Peggy Bandt. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.

Hollis was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Patty Bandt; five brothers, Willie (Rena) Bandt, Arnold (Darlene) Bandt,Rudy Bandt, Russell Bandt, Donald Bandt; five sisters, Violet (Ernie) Strey, Lila (Bill) Frozene, Carole (Clarence) Gethers, Marie (Sam) DeQuardo, Joyce (Ed) Colby; a brother-in-law, Stanley Warren; and by his first wife, Marilyn Bandt.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Leikness Funeral Home in Wautoma. Full military honors will follow the service. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.
